Aim:

            Aim of the project is to build a system to monitor the vital signs of workers who working underground like Tunnels or Mines.


Introduction:

            The construction of underground tunnels, shafts, chambers, and passageways are essential yet dangerous activities. Working under reduced light conditions, difficult or limited access and, with the potential for exposure to air contaminants and the hazards of fire and explosion, underground construction workers face many dangers. The construction of tunnels requires a great deal of physical effort. Energy expenditure during manual work is usually from 200 to 350 W, with a great part of static load of the muscles. Heart rate during work with compressed-air drills and pneumatic hammers reaches 150 to 160 per minute. Work is often done in un favourable cold and humid microclimatic conditions, sometimes in cumbersome work postures. It is usually combined with exposure to other risk factors which depend on the local geological conditions and on the type of technology used.


           To ensure the safety of workers we need to examine their health factors in particular interval. Currently, periodic and post-employment medical examinations are conducted as safety precautions. Our proposed system can monitor the vital signs of worker as well as various environmental factors such as temperature, presence of hazardous gases, barometric pressure. Wearable sensor belts can monitor worker’s body temperature, heart rate and SpO2 level (Oxygen saturation in blood). We can compare the worker’s vital signs relative to the environmental factors. If any factor crosses its threshold we can guide the worker to take necessary action. A rover is used to inspect the site before worker enters to field. Rover equipped with environmental sensors and camera which can transmit the live video and sensor data. Guide from control room can view the work field and can easily guide the workers. It may reduce the work pressure of supervisors and increase the worker safety.


Proposed System:

          In proposed system, Live health examination taken for workers who working in underground like Tunnels, Shafts etc, It has individual database of worker and compare it with current vital sensory values respective to working environment data. It can guide the worker if any health issue happen and also can avoid the unwanted death.
