Synopsis
In automobile the clutch is a mechanism used to connect or disconnect the power from the transmission line whenever it is necessary. Each and every time while we change the gear we must disconnect the power unit from the remaining transmission line. Normally this process is done by the driver of the vehicle. But in heavy traffic conditions, driver use to change the gear frequently. This may make the operator tired. To avoid this difficulty we proposed a system known as air assisted clutch.
Working Principle
In our system we place a push button which is operated by the driver with lower effort. This button allows the compressed air from the reservoir to air chamber. Due to the air pressure the pneumatic cylinder gets operated and the clutch can be operated. After modifying the gear we have to release the button. Now the clutch comes to its original position. By using this system we can reduce the driver’s effort and it will help them at heavy traffic conditions. The button can be placed at the top of gear shifting lever so that the above operation can be done while the driver changes the gear automatically by pressing the clutch pedal.
