Abstract

In the recent years, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have become the leading cause of death worldwide. Approximately 17.9 million people died from CVDs in 2016, accounting for 31% of the total global deaths. 85% of these deaths are caused by heart attack and stroke. In the existing system, we present an application of the two cores of DSCs in collecting and processing ECG signals in real time. In addition, we implement an infinite impulse response (IIR) filter to eliminate noise from the surrounding environment. Specifically, the master core collects and implements a high-pass IIR filter with five poles, and the slave core implements the low-pass IIR filter with seven poles and sampling frequency of ECG signals up to 400 Hz. In the proposed system, FIR filter and notch filters are consequently applied to evaluate the ECG noise removal process. The proposed system is developed with MATLAB signal processing toolbox. The system parameters are measured in terms of comparative noise and processing speed etc.
