Description

Aim:
The goal of this project is to develop an Augmented Reality (AR) and 3D modeling system for online furniture shopping. The primary aim is to enhance the shopping experience by allowing customers to visualize furniture in their actual living spaces before making a purchase. This system will reduce uncertainty, improve engagement, and provide a more interactive and personalized shopping experience.
Existing System:
Currently, online furniture shopping relies on static images, product descriptions, and sometimes videos to showcase products. Customers have to rely on their imagination to determine how a piece of furniture will look and fit in their space. This often leads to dissatisfaction, incorrect purchases, and high return rates.
Disadvantages:
1. Limited Visualization: Customers cannot see how furniture will look in their homes before purchasing.
2. Inaccurate Size Estimation: Images and dimensions alone do not provide a clear sense of scale.
3. High Return Rates: Due to mismatches in expectations, many customers return products after purchase.
4. Lack of Interaction: Shoppers cannot customize or manipulate the furniture virtually to match their space.

Proposed System:
The proposed system aims to revolutionize the online shopping experience by integrating Augmented Reality (AR) and high-fidelity 3D modeling. Through a smartphone or tablet camera, customers will be able to place virtual furniture directly into their physical environment, allowing them to visualize how products will look and fit in their actual space. The AR interface will support real-time interactions, enabling users to rotate, resize, and reposition furniture with ease. High-quality 3D models will provide an accurate representation of each product, including dimensions, textures, and design details. Additionally, realistic lighting effects and material rendering will enhance visual authenticity, helping customers better assess how different items complement their home dƩcor. This immersive and interactive approach not only empowers shoppers to make more informed purchasing decisions but also significantly reduces uncertainty, which in turn can lower return rates and increase customer satisfaction.
