Aim:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā The aim of this research is to develop a robust and accurate facial expression recognition system that addresses the challenges posed by uncertain and ambiguous data. We aim to improve upon existing methods to enhance feature representation learning and uncertainty mitigation.
Introduction:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Facial expression recognition (FER) plays a crucial role in various applications, including human-computer interaction, emotion analysis, and mental health assessment. Deep learning models have achieved remarkable success in FER, but their performance can be significantly impacted by the presence of uncertain or ambiguously labeled data in training datasets. Existing methods often struggle to effectively handle this uncertainty, leading to reduced robustness and accuracy. This paper proposes a novel approach that combinesĀ with the multi-task learning framework of MTAC to address this challenge
Abstract:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā This Proposed System, a novel approach to facial expression recognition designed to mitigate the impact of uncertain data. Building upon the multi-task learning framework of MTAC, The adaptive confidence mechanism dynamically adjusts confidence scores during training, focusing on reliable samples while down-weighting uncertain ones. Furthermore, the transformer network captures long-range dependencies in facial expressions, leading to richer and more discriminative feature representations. We evaluate dataset, demonstrating significant improvements in recognition accuracy and robustness compared to state-of-the-art methods.
Proposed Method:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Proposed System leverages a two-stage approach for robust facial expression recognition. First, we employ MobileNetV2, a lightweight and efficient pre-trained Convolutional neural network, to extract robust feature representations from the input facial images. MobileNetV2’s architecture is well-suited for capturing spatial hierarchies and subtle variations in facial expressions while maintaining computational efficiency. The pre-trained weights of MobileNetV2 are fine-tuned on our target dataset to adapt the learned features to the specific task of facial expression recognition.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Second, the feature maps extracted by MobileNetV2 are then fed into a custom-designed Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). This CNN architecture is tailored to further process the features and learn discriminative representations for different facial expression categories. Our CNN consists of [Describe the architecture of your CNN, e.g., X convolutional layers with Y filters, followed by max pooling and fully connected layers]. We carefully designed this CNN to balance performance and computational cost, taking into account the feature characteristics provided by MobileNetV2.. The combined architecture of MobileNetV2 and our custom CNN allows us to effectively learn robust and discriminative features for accurate facial expression recognition, even in the presence of uncertain or ambiguous data.
Advantages:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Leveraging MobileNetV2 provides efficient feature extraction, enabling real-time performance. Our custom CNN further enhances feature discrimination, leading to higher accuracy. Specifically, we observe a [X%] improvement compared to the [Baseline Model]. Fine-tuning MobileNetV2 allows rapid adaptation to new datasets, minimizing data requirements. This combined architecture balances computational efficiency with robust feature learning. Consequently, Proposed System is well-suited for practical facial expression recognition applications: Fine-tuning adapts the system to new data.
