Abstract:
Aquarium ecosystems require constant monitoring to maintain suitable water quality and environmental conditions for aquatic life. Manual observation often leads to delays in detecting harmful changes. The Real-Time Smart Aquarium Monitoring System Driven by IoT addresses this issue by integrating sensors, a microcontroller, and cloud connectivity to automate aquarium monitoring. The system measures essential parameters such as water temperature, pH, TDS levels, humidity, air temperature, and water level. Through wireless communication, the ESP32 sends data to a cloud platform, enabling users to access real-time information anytime via mobile or web. This intelligent solution enhances aquarium management, reduces maintenance effort, and improves aquatic health.
Proposed System:
The proposed Real-Time Smart Aquarium Monitoring System is an IoT-enabled solution designed to provide continuous, automated, and remote monitoring of aquarium health. The ESP32 microcontroller acts as the processing hub, collecting real-time data from various sensors including the pH sensor, water temperature sensor, TDS sensor for water purity, ultrasonic or float sensor for water level, and DHT11 for air temperature and humidity. These values are transmitted to Firebase Cloud, where they can be visualized through a user-friendly mobile or web dashboard. Additionally, an ESP32-CAM is integrated to offer live video streaming, allowing users to visually inspect the aquarium from anywhere. The system employs threshold-based alerting: whenever any parameter crosses its safe limit, notifications are generated to prompt immediate corrective actions. To enhance sustainability, a solar panel with a Battery Management System (BMS) is incorporated to power the system and charge the battery, ensuring uninterrupted operation even during power failures. This design not only simplifies aquarium management but also supports aquaponics and organic farming setups by providing real-time environmental insights, promoting healthier aquatic ecosystems, and reducing maintenance efforts.
